About This Special Issue
Essential hypertension is a multi-gene hereditary disease which is affected by heredity, environment and nutrition. The study of essential hypertension should not be limited to the risk factors of hypertension: high sodium diet, alcoholism, smoking, obesity, diabetes, mental stress, gene polymorphism, but more attention should be paid to epigenetics of essential hypertension. Why does the environment influence the selective expression of essential hypertension genes? Epigenetic modification of hypertension plays a big role. And the effect may be passed down to the next generation. Epigenetics of essential hypertension include DNA methylation, histone modification, non-coding RNA, etc. The goal of this special issue is to gather the latest research results of hypertension gene research, hypertension epigenetics, and hypertension gene therapy, and find the treatment plan for essential hypertension according to the gene and gene expression.
