Abstract

Quinoline-fused aurones are an important class of compounds with promising potential in medicine and technology. Their unique chemical structure allows for diverse applications, ranging from life-saving medicines to advanced materials used in electronics. Aurones, a subclass of flavonoids distinguished by a benzofuranone scaffold, has garnered significant interest in medicinal chemistry and materials science due to their diverse biological activities and unique optical properties. Quinoline, a prevalent nitrogen-containing heterocycle, is known for its diverse pharmacological applications. Fusing quinoline with aurone scaffolds has emerged as a promising strategy for generating novel compounds with enhanced or synergistic bioactivities. The synthesis of quinoline-fused aurones often involves intricate organic transformations, in-cluding cyclization, condensation, and cross-coupling reactions, requiring careful selection of catalysts and reaction conditions to achieve optimal yields and regioselectivity. The exploration of novel synthetic routes and optimization of existing methods are crucial for the efficient production of these compounds. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the synthetic methodologies developed for quinoline-fused aurones and their applications in various fields. Future developments in this field could contribute to more accessible medicines, cleaner technologies, and a better quality of life for people worldwide.
