Abstract

In this work, we investigate terahertz (THz) generation from anharmonic nanoparticles (NPs) excited by laser beams, considering the effect of a ramp density profile in the nanoparticle distribution. The underlying mechanism involves the excitation of nonlinear charge oscillations within the NPs by the incident laser fields, which subsequently leads to the emission of THz radiation. An analytical model is developed to analyze the influence of nanoparticle size and density gradient on the generated THz radiation. The results of this analysis provide valuable insights into how the introduction of a ramp density profile in the nanoparticle distribution can be utilized to manipulate and enhance THz generation. This understanding offers a potential pathway for the design and optimization of nanostructure-based THz sources, contributing to advancements in THz technology for various applications.
