Abstract

Biofuels or fuels of biological origin have been used by men since the discovery of fire. In spite of the improved methods of obtaining energy, biofuels continue to be major resource. Biofuel are renewable, and if used properly and efficiently they can help overcome energy problem of developing countries. With improvements in technology, it is becoming possible to substantially replace fossils fuels by biofuels. Biomass can be used to generateproducer gas to run irrigation pumps, to obtain alcohol, to replace patrol, to generate biogas for cooking and lighting, or merely to generate electricity. Biofuels are obtained from wood and agricultural, Argo- industries and animal waste and from plants that produces alcohol, oil and petroleum. These are the prime sources of renewable energy.
