Applications of Mechanoluminescence in Solid State Physics

Abstract

The Knowledge of Mechanoluminescence (ML) is useful in understanding various properties of solids such as acoustic emission, exo-electron emission, deformation bleaching of coloured crystals, decay of coloration in microcrystalline powders, ionization waves in solids etc. ML is also useful in understanding certain parameters of other types of lumines-cence. Furthermore, ML materials are utilized in the development of smart sensors, bio-imaging, anti-counterfeiting technologies, and next-generation flexible electronics. ML-based devices for real-time visualization of mechanical pro-cesses, thereby offering powerful tools for both fundamental studies and practical applications.
