Abstract: Adsorption kinetic study provides understanding into reaction rate and mechanism of sorption during adsorption process. This research investigated the adsorption kinetics of the removal of Pb2+, Cr6+, Zn2+ and Fe3+ in aqueous solution using unmodified and oxalic acid modified cassava peel waste powder (CPP) using standard methods. Data obtained for the effect of agitation time revealed that within 30-60 minutes, both the unmodified and oxalic acid modified cassava peel powder (CPP) were able to remove 94% Pb2+, 80% Cr6+, 96% Zn2+ and 82% Fe3+ respectively. The experimental data were evaluated in terms of intra-particle diffusion coefficient and rate of adsorption, thus comparing transport mechanism and sorption process and found it to be 7.55 ± 0.05 mg/g for Pb2+, 6.4 mg/g and 6.39 ± 0.05 mg/g for Cr6+, 7.32 mg/g and 7.45 ± 0.01 mg/g for Zn2+, 6.74 mg/g and 6.48 ± 0.12 mg/g for unmodified and differentially modified respectively. Results from the experiment shows that the pseudo-second order model appropriately describes the kinetic process which supports chemisorption (R2 > 0.99) value. There was no significant effect on removal by oxalic acid modification. The result further revealed that cassava peel powder can remove heavy metal ions from solution and this can be applied in waste water treatment operations.

Abstract: Background: Dietary diversity is universally recognized as a key component of healthy diets and defined as the total number of food groups consumed over a reference period. Preschool children are the most vulnerable group because of their high nutritional needs for growth and development. It highly affects their nutritional status as the reason for lack of dietary diversity. The aim of this study was to assessment the levels of dietary diversity and associated factors of Preschool Children aged 4-7 years in Southern Ethiopia. Method and materials: A community based cross sectional study will be conducted. A total of 487 preschool children were included in this study. Data was collected using interview guided structured questionnaire. To calculate Dietary diversity score 24 hours recall by mothers of their children’s food consumption was used. A binary logistic regression was performed to examine the association of each independent variable on the outcome variable. Results: the prevalence of inadequate dietary diversity among preschool children in this study was 65.70% with the mean score of dietary diversity score of study was 3.27±1.50. Household who do not live near health care facility (AOR= 2.35, CI (1.50-3.69), House hold with no access to fruit (AOR=1.76 (1.11-2.80), history child illness in last two weeks (AOR=2.56, CI: (1.24-5.26) and preschool child with whose mother has counseling of child feeding at PNC (AOR=0.39; 95% CI: (0.21-0.71) were significantly associated with low dietary diversity in preschool children in study. Conclusion: The findings indicated that many preschool children in the study area did not get a minimum dietary diversity score. Therefore, health extension workers must organize community-based behavior change nutritional education for mothers or caregivers to create awareness of preschool child dietary diversity practices.

Abstract: The egg incubator is a technology that is used to produce chicks without the mother hen's consent. Depending on the energy source used to power the incubator, there are various types of artificial incubators commercially available. Various types of incubators have their own influences and merits on the hatchability of eggs. If the influences of various types of incubators on the hatchability of poultry eggs are properly identified and promoted through scientific reviews, they could be an important and prominent tool in maximizing the production and productivities of the birds. In this case, there is a lack of information about the impact of various types of incubators on the hatchability of the egg. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to review current information on the influences of different types of incubators on the hatchability of poultry eggs. Incubators can be powered by electricity, solar, kerosene, gas, coal, or fire. Modern electric incubators are powered by electricity and have automatic egg turning devices, so they are better than conventional ones due to their ease of control and monitoring, as well as their efficiency in saving energy. A smart incubator can face frequent power outages, which can affect its efficiency. In such conditions, the hatchability rate ranges between 27 and 33%. The low hatchability of the fertile eggs was attributed to a frequent power outage during the incubation period. On the other hand, poultry farmers in rural communities often use bush lamps and kerosene stoves to heat their hatcheries, which can lead to environmental pollution, fire outbreaks, and toxic gases that can lower the hatchability of eggs. Solar energy is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative energy source. a solar-powered chicken egg incubator, which found that hatchability was 35-75%. In general, solar energy application was the most attractive option for a sustainable energy supply in poultry production.

Abstract: Energy consumption and GDP in Guangdong are closely related. This paper uses time series data of Guangdong's GDP and energy consumption from 2002 to 2021, and applies methods such as unit root test, cointegration analysis, multicollinearity test and correction, and sequence correlation test and correction to study the impact of the consumption of various components of terminal energy on Guangdong's GDP. The results show that (1) the logarithm of coal consumption (LnX1) and the logarithm of oil consumption (LnX2) have no significant impact on the logarithm of GDP (LnGDP) at the 5% significance level; (2) the logarithm of electricity consumption (LnX3) and the logarithm of other energy consumption (LnX4) have a significant impact on the logarithm of GDP (LnGDP) at the 5% significance level, and on average, an increase of 1% in electricity consumption and other energy consumption will increase Guangdong's GDP by 0.698% and 0.507%, respectively; (3) the logarithm of coal consumption (LnX1) and the logarithm of oil consumption (LnX2) have no significant impact on the logarithm of GDP (LnGDP) in the current period at the 5% significance level, but have a significant positive impact with a lag of one year. Based on these findings, policy recommendations are proposed.

Abstract: In the race of enhancing the efficiency of organic farming, several researches have been done on the use of electromagnetic waves in crop production. This work aims to study the effects of electric and magnetic waves of different kinds on the germination performance of tomato. The effects of six fields, namely the static upward magnetic field, the static downward magnetic field, the oscillating magnetic field, the oscillating electric field, the static electric field and the magnetic field produced by permanent magnets, were studied on the germination parameters of tomato seeds, such as the latency time, the germination rate and the germinative energy. The results obtained revealed that static electric field and permanent magnet have no influence on the latency time, germination rate and germination energy of tomato seeds. The oscillating electric field, oscillating magnetic field, static upward magnetic field and static downward magnetic with intensities of 150 v/m and 20 mT have a positive influence on the latency time of tomato seeds, their germination rate and their germinative energies; although this influence is more significant in the case of static upward and downward magnetic field who increased the germination rate to 45.21% and 41.10% respectively and reduced the latency time by around 3 days. Thus, statics magnetic fields are more suitable to enhance, tomato germination parameters in organic farming practice.

Abstract: Polyscias fruticosa (L.) Harms is a traditional medicine, which is planted widely in Tra Vinh province of Vietnam. It is used for nourishing the body, curing asthenia, emaciation, fatigue, poor digestion, poor metabolism, enhance working capacity and brain activity. Oleanolic acid (OA), a marker, is a sapogenin in radix polysciacis. Quantification of OA by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) makes an important contribution to the quality assessment of the medicinal plant of Polyscias fruticosa (L.) Harms. In order to develop and apply a method to evaluate the content OA in radix polysciacis, planted in Tra Vinh province, many conditions for extracting OA from radix polysciacis were investigated; many HPLC testing conditions were performed find a simple, accurate and fast analytical procedure for the quantification of OA in extract solution of radix polysciacis. As a result, the optimum extraction procedure of OA from the roots of Polyscias fruticosa (L.) Harms was found out; a simple, accurate and fast analytical procedure for the quantification of OA in radix polysciacis’s extract solution was developed, evaluated and applied to assets the OA content of 05 samples of radix polysciacis collected in different regions of Tra Vinh province. This developed method can control the quality of medicinal materials of Polyscias fruticosa (L.) Harms and its preparation effectively.

Abstract: Cucumber, originally indigenous to Southern Asia, thrives in diverse areas of Nepal. However, despite its promising prospects, cucumber cultivation in Nepal encounters obstacles resulting in reduced profits for farmers. These challenges encompass price volatility, marketing issues, the involvement of intermediaries in pricing, susceptibility to spoilage, and the substantial importation of cucumbers from neighboring India. Moreover, the agricultural market dynamics have led to traders shifting the burden of price risks onto farmers, culminating in lower returns for their produce. In that regard, this study focuses on the forecasting of cucumber prices in Nepal using time series analysis and compare the performance of two popular forecasting models: Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) and Simple Seasonal Exponential Smoothing (SSES). The objective is to provide accurate and reliable price predictions to assist stakeholders in making informed decisions in the cucumber market. The study utilizes historical cucumber price data spanning the past decade to understand the seasonal variations and trends in cucumber prices. The SARIMA model, known for its ability to capture seasonal effects, and the SSES model, a benchmark for seasonal time-series analysis, are both employed in the comparative assessment. The results reveal that the SSES model outperforms the SARIMA model in terms of forecasting accuracy, with lower Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values. The study's findings have significant implications for policymakers, researchers, and farmers involved in the cucumber market, offering valuable insights to optimize production and pricing strategies.
