Abstract

The development of medical tourism in Uzbekistan is increasingly influenced by digital healthcare technologies and modern healthcare system management approaches. In recent years, the country has strengthened its position as a regional medical tourism destination through the integration of digital registration systems, telemedicine services, electronic patient coordination platforms, and state-supported healthcare management reforms. The objective of this study is to assess the current state, trends, and future prospects of medical tourism in Uzbekistan from the perspective of digital healthcare and healthcare system management. The study employs a descriptive and analytical research design based on national healthcare statistics, market analysis of private medical services, and evaluation of healthcare management policies supporting digital transformation. Key areas analyzed include the role of private medical institutions, digital service accessibility for foreign patients, management efficiency, and state regulation mechanisms. The results demonstrate a substantial growth in inbound medical tourism, supported by the expansion of private healthcare facilities, implementation of digital appointment and information systems, and increased use of teleconsultations for pre- and post-treatment care. Dental care, ophthalmology, aesthetic surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, and reproductive services emerged as leading sectors benefiting from digital management tools and service coordination. Government initiatives aimed at healthcare digitalization, international accreditation, and system-level planning contributed to improved service quality and organizational efficiency. However, challenges remain related to digital workforce readiness, international branding, and uneven adoption of digital standards across healthcare providers. In conclusion, medical tourism in Uzbekistan is transitioning from a primarily service-based model to a digitally managed healthcare system that enhances patient accessibility, transparency, and system sustainability. Strengthening digital infrastructure, healthcare management competencies, and international cooperation will be essential for ensuring long-term growth and competitiveness in the global digital healthcare environment.
