Abstract

The transition of disease patterns in recent decades has shifted from infectious diseases to non-communicable diseases. Currently, non-communicable diseases occupy the top position as causes of death in all age groups, with the order of stroke, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cancer, heart disease, and chronic respiratory diseases. The main risk factors that trigger type 2 diabetes mellitus include genetic factors, lifestyle, and unhealthy diet. Poor eating habits can cause unstable blood sugar levels. Dietary patterns have an influence on the regulation of blood sugar metabolism. This study aims to design a short film about the eating patterns of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the work area of the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center in Bengkulu City. This study uses a mixed-methods approach with the type of research and development, namely combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The study involved 43 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from a total population of 294 people in the work area of the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center in Bengkulu City. The short film design was carried out using the ADDIE development model. The results of the media needs analysis of 5 informants showed that most informants preferred video media as a means of conveying health information. The results of the media validation trial showed a value of 81.81%, which is categorized as very feasible. The material validity test showed that 100% of the material was declared very feasible. The media feasibility test showed that the short film was suitable for use by people with type 2 diabetes mellitus with a percentage of 90.70%. This study is expected to contribute to increasing understanding of the importance of dietary patterns for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
