Abstract

Harapan dan Doa Regional Hospital in Bengkulu implements the Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Surgery (ERACS) protocol to accelerate maternal recovery and minimize post-surgical pain. Despite these physiological benefits, one of the primary challenges remains the successful establishment of exclusive breastfeeding. This process is often influenced not only by physical conditions but also by psychological factors, particularly self-efficacy—the maternal belief in her capability to breastfeed effectively. This study aimed to determine the correlation between self-efficacy and breastfeeding success among post-cesarean mothers treated with the ERACS method at Harapan dan Doa Regional Hospital in 2025. Employing a descriptive analytic cross-sectional design, the study involved 75 respondents selected via total sampling based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of α=0.05. The statistical analysis revealed no significant association between demographic factors, such as age or parity, and breastfeeding practices. However, a significant positive correlation was observed between maternal self-efficacy and breastfeeding success (p=0.029). These findings suggest that high self-efficacy fosters resilience and persistence in breastfeeding, which is crucial for mothers recovering from surgery. Therefore, hospitals are strongly recommended to implement holistic interventions, including structured counseling, continuous healthcare support, and family involvement, to enhance maternal self-efficacy and promote higher rates of exclusive breastfeeding within the ERACS pathway.
