Investigating the Relationship Between the Active and Passive Leisure Time with the Amount of Social Deviations of Male Students of Medical Universities of Iran

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the way of spending, active and passive leisure time with a degree of social deviation of male students of medical universities of country. This research is scrolling, in terms of method, correlation, purpose and data collection method. The statistical population of this research includes male students of medical universities at the 13th sport Olympiad in Tabriz. The sample size required for the study was 351 people base on Cochran formula. This sample was distributed randomly among different students present at the Olympiad. Data gathering tools are Leisure time [1] and social deviations [2] questionnaires which are validated by supervisors, consultants and experts in the field of physical education management. Their reliability using the Cronbach’s alpha index was obtained 89% and 91% respectively. The collected data from spss software were analyzed by descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential (variance analysis, non-parametric Kolmogorov-smirnov test, Pearson correlation). The research results indicate that, there is a positive correlation between active leisure variables (sport and recreational activities, tourism, art activities, hand craft and musical activities) and social deviation variables (theft, aggression, drugs, sexual issues, suicide and taking off). therefore, there is a meaningful relationship between these variables (significance factor less than 0/05). results show that there is a positive correlation between passive leisure variables (religious activities, social-political group activities, studies, media usage and educational classes) and social deviation variables (theft, aggression, drugs, sexual, suicide and taking off). Abstract: In this study, surfactant dispersed MWCNTs were introduced as nanofillers into poly (vinyl) alcohol (PVA) and Chitosan (Cs) blend (ratio 50:50 wt%, optimized) by solution casting method to fabricate PVA/Cs/MWCNTs nanocomposite films. These nanocomposites were subjected to different characterization to study the variation of properties with different amount of MWCNTs loading. Various techniques, such as Optical microscopy (OM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA, DTGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), impedance analyzer (IA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and universal testing machine (UTM) were used to study the physicochemical, morphological, electrical and thermo-mechanical properties of the nanocomposite films. The experimental results of FTIR illustrated that strong interaction among MWCNTs, Cs and PVA facilitated the crystallization of PVA and prevented the agglomeration of MWCNTs in the composite film. Tensile strength of the nanocomposite containing 1 wt% MWCNTs increased by 61.51% and elongation at break decreased by 20.07% in comparison to that of pure PVA/Cs blend film. Similarly, the conductivity of the nanocomposite containing 1 wt% MWCNTs was highest at 40V with the value of 1.99 x 103 S/cm.

Abstract: Ethiopia has more than 58 different types of natural and manmade wetland lake resources which provide enormous socio-economic and environmental values. However, nowadays these Ethiopian wetland lake resources are under severe problems such as population pressure, aquatic biodiversity loss; drying up, pollution, and degradation. These severe problems are created due to improper extraction, over use, weak management, improper policy and misconceptions forward to wetlands. Consequently the health of the wetland lake resources of the country is continuously decreasing from year to year and from time to time. Therefore, the objective of the study was aimed: 1) to appreciate the wet land lake resources of Ethiopia for their unlimited benefit to local communities and National GDP growth 2) to identify the major threats and challenges of the country’ wetland lake resources and 3) forward the possible correction measures to tackle their problems. Regarding methodology to collect the relevant data, qualitative (descriptive) research methods were used. The data were obtained through interview, field survey, observation, reviewing relevant secondary sources and organized using tables, Graphs, charts then analyzed qualitatively. Among the 100,000 total populations of the wetland lake resource users only 200 sample respondents were selected and interviewed to collect the relevant information regarding the benefit of wetland resources, conservation practices, their attitude towards them and the challenges they faced. The results of this study was expected to have a positive impacts on wetland conservation, to local users, national level, in identifying the challenges and point out the remedial correction measures to solve the problems. The study will have significance in solving problems through realizing the collaboration of relevant stockholders from policy maker’s level to grassroots communities and it is the best opportunity to increase the conservation methods of Ethiopian wetland lake resources.

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of the social capital on the adoption of improved technology, profitability and productivity among cassava farmers in Osun state. A Multistage sampling procedure was used to obtain information from 100 cassava farmers and the data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, tobit, budgetary analysis and stochastic production function models. Results from the study showed an average cassava farmer was young, very active and smallholder in nature. Cassava farmers who participated in social capital network benefitted tremendously from their group because they made more profit and were more efficient than those who did not participate in any social network. The study concluded that cassava farmers who participated in social capital networks were more efficient that those who did not participate in any social network. The study therefore recommended that cassava farmers in the study area should be encourage to participate in social capital networks in order to improve their profit level and productivity. Also in order to promote and facilitate the rate and intensity of adoption of improved technologies among farmers, social capital and group networks should be considered as appropriate channels to introduce and train farmers for maximum impact.
