Exploration of Mencius’ Motivation Theory of “Benevolence and Righteousness” Based on the Existence of Human Meaning

Abstract: This paper abandons the usual thinking pattern of “arguing between righteousness and profit” under the study of Mencius’ general level of good of “benevolence and righteousness”, attempts to take the path of “motivation”, which is less concerned by the academic circle, from the first chapter of Mencius with “benevolence and justice” to show the tension of argumentation brought by the propositions within it, according to the times, Confucian thinking mode and the general review of foreign motivation theory and so on, and briefly responds to the disadvantages of the opposition of “motivation theory and effect theory”. Based on the existence of human meaning, this paper redefines the connotation and direction of Mencius’ “benevolence and righteousness” in motivation theory, and holds that Mencius’ “benevolence and righteousness” motivation theory is the transcendence of moral ideals or values over moral argumentation. Mencius put the moral motivation of Confucianism above the external utilitarian demand, which is the internal reflection of Mencius’ basic thought of “good human nature”. This motivation can be regarded as the high recognition and expectation of the existence in human nature on the basis of the Confucian concept of virtue. Therefore, we can say with certainty that Mencius’ “motivation theory” has a value of guiding people to “follow the good”.

Abstract: Globalization has always been with us right from the time of European incursion into Africa that was signed in the Berlin Conference. The trend is for the developed world to continually be in search of avenues to increase her domination and exploitation of the developing world through multiple means and opportunities. The paper studied globalization and the trend of international schools in Africa. Globalization through its aegis of trade-liberalization that engenders privatization, public private partnership, commercialization among others is aimed at capital accumulation for the imperial West and their cronies. The findings of the work include that international schools are yet another means of extension of globalization and its operations in Africa. All its intents and operations are aimed at maintaining Western domination and exploitation on Africa. It is recommended that until African leaders wake up from their slumber to face the reality with measures and policies to engender African development and halt neo-imperialism, new avenues to hold Africa will continue to emerge. International Schools should be made accessible to the locals by reducing the cost of accessing the schools in all dimensions. The culture of the locals and language should not be relegated to the ground but also be put in use to make the schools have human face.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of one of the most influential American sociologists of science of the 20th century, R. K. Merton. According to his teachings, the ethos of science is an emotional set of values and norms, which is considered mandatory for scientists. Norms are expressed in the form of prescriptions, preferences, permissions and prohibitions. With the growth of social conflict, divergences of norms, and ways of thinking of people develop to such an extent that the former orientation of these groups is overshadowed by great differences. They are formed in terms of institutional values. R. K. Merton identified universalism, unselfishness, skepticism, and collectivism as the basic norms of science. Ideas R. K. Merton on scientific norms are of particular relevance in those conditions when the very fact of contacts with representatives of the science of another state can turn out to be a turning point, if not tragic, in the fate of a particular scientist. Merton played a defining role in the development of sociology and philosophy of science in the post-war "golden period" of its construction, and still has great potential to contribute to modern discussions. Abstract: This study was set up try to address some of the problems which the Parastatal organizations have been facing in their operations. Corporate governance is seen as being critical in the leadership of Parastatal organizations. One of the motivating reasons for establishing Parastatal organizations in Zambia is to facilitate social and economic development in sectors that are not considered expedient for private sector investment by foreign and local investors. However, the Parastatal organizations established by the government to fill this vacuum have been faced with challenges that constrain their ability to perform optimally. The Board of Directors are key in the success of the Parastatal organizations. Primary methodology used in this study is Qualitative field research. Sampling was based on non-probability which is purposive sampling. After initial participants were selected using purposive sampling, Snowball sampling was used to select subsequent participants. In this study, opinions, perceptions, feelings, attitudes, and beliefs were sought through face-to-face informant interviews supplemented by the desk research. The study population were former Government leaders, Board of Directors, and senior management members who had been involved in Parastatal organizations. In-depth interview methodology was used where each person interviewed shared with the interviewer’s understanding on the subject of the role of leadership in Parastatal organizations in Zambia. Government Leaders, Board of Directors and Senior management leaders who were appointed to run these organizations were the main target groups for this study. A total of 40 respondents (comprising of 30 males and 10 females) belonging to the existing and past Parastatal organizations were systemically interviewed within their setting. Leadership in these organizations is led by the Board of directors were appointed by the minister. The board then have a responsibility of appointing and overseeing the senior management to hold them responsible for the success of the organization. Most of the participants were quick to point out that the leadership in parastatal organizations are mostly constrained by political interests whereby what is actualized within organizations is not the vision of Parastatal leaders but the interests of the politicians running the country. Parastatal organizations are supposed to be contributing to domestic revenue, employment creation and economic growth. Unfortunately, Parastatal organizations in Zambia had in the past been marred with inefficiencies, high liabilities and poor financial management. This has been mainly attributed to the interferences of Government in the Board of Directors.

Abstract: South Africa's constitutional commitments have been widely celebrated for their expansion and deepening of the country's commitment to realizing socio-economic rights. However, limited progress in guaranteeing food security threatens to compromise the nation's developmental path. To transform South Africa's food system, it is necessary to address the wider issues of who controls the food supply, which in turn influences the food chain and the food choices of individuals and communities. This research paper aims to explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding food sovereignty in South Africa, with a specific focus on unlocking the potential for food security. Through a critical analysis of the political, economic, and social factors that have contributed to the country's current food system, the paper will identify key strategies for achieving food sovereignty and security. Drawing on extensive literature review, in the field, the research will provide a comprehensive overview of the complex issues surrounding food sovereignty and its impact on South Africa's future. Ultimately, the paper seeks to provide a roadmap for unlocking Africa's food sovereignty potential and ensuring the long-term food security of its people. The paper is grounded in the African Renaissance theory.

Abstract: In study This researcher try explain how Indonesia's policy in protection worker Indonesian migrants working on ships foreigners and Indonesia's readiness to ratify ILO convention 188 in particular related worker catcher fish. Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), formerly known as Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI), are looking for jobs abroad as daily jobs due to the lack of job opportunities in their own country. Indonesian migrant workers working as ship crew aim to receive higher salaries than working domestically. examining legal principles and norms. From the research results can be recommended that by ratifying ILO Convention 188, there is a post-ratification obligation in the form of reporting to the ILO regarding Other facts show that crew members who work on domestic and foreign vessels often become victims of human trafficking in the fishing industry. They are very vulnerable to exploitation and become victims of human rights violations and sexual violence. Crews also face difficulties in many ways due to low wages, gender discrimination, workplace violence, forced wage deductions. This is due to weak agreed maritime employment contracts and a lack of government oversight. The method used in this research is normative legal research method. This method is carried out to examine literary sources, namely by the implementation of instruments and decisions taken by the government so as to strengthen the protection of the rights of fishing crews.
