Since all transport activities are contaminated by risk, risk assessment is one of the important problems for all local and national authorities who are dealing with transportation management. In transportation and traffic engineering, the risk is mainly considered to improve road safety programs in which the risk assessment is a major part. The idea behind this special issue is to share the knowledge and expertise of researchers and experts on the risk assessment in traffic and transportation.
