About This Special Issue
The approach trough the foramen ovale route may aid therapeutic or diagnostic decision making described in literature. It may use for surgical biopsy of cavernous sinus tumor lesion avoiding unnecessary open surgery when lesions are confirmed to be nonsurgical or unresectable. On other hands Percutaneous balloon rhizotomy is one of the standard techniques for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. However, there have been well-reported complications from cannulating the foramen ovale. We want to describe and suggest techniques, indications, and complications of this approach trough our cases and experience and literature review.
