About This Special Issue
Around 1.2 billion people, or 1 in 6 of the world’s population are adolescents aged 10 to 19.
Most are healthy, but there is still substantial premature death, illness, and injury among adolescents. Adolescent includes school and college going children, School dropouts, those engaged in various criminal activities and many more. Adolescent health, or youth health, is the range of approaches to preventing, detecting or treating young people’s health and wellbeing. As a community physician, we have observed that, research in the field of adolescent health both boys and girls is somewhere lacking. The more focus is definitely either on Mother and child group or geriatric group. We understand the need of research in this age group because they are the future of world. Research in this perspective includes role of health promotion including mental health, specific protection with immunization for certain infections as well as HIV, prevention of injuries, diagnosis and treatment of certain ailments like malnutrition, infectious diseases, and rehabilitation including those of addictions. Hence we are proposing a special issue which promotes and welcomes research in adolescent health. We welcome articles in all preventive, promotive and curative aspects of adolescence.

  5. Mental health problems including depression and suicide
  6. Violence
  7. Alcohol and other drugs
  8. Injuries both unintentional and self-injury

  11. Exercise and nutrition
  12. Tobacco use
  13. Rights of adolescents
