About This Special Issue
This Special Issue on the theme ‘New Dimensions in Vocational Business Education Teaching and Learning’ is apt because the knowledge, skill, attitude and competencies required of the business education graduate to fit into the world of work or be self-reliant seemed to have changed thereby worsening unemployment situation. The arrival of new technologies and the rapid nature of its expansion seem to overwhelm curriculum planners and both teachers and learners. There is the argument that the traditional classroom will never be the same again and that business education programs must be reorganized not only to cater for students without borders but to meet the demand of employers who require new skills to match the technological environment. Yet, in the developing world, enormous challenges prevent the use of these technologies. There is also the absence of widely used pedagogical models requiring construction of flexible learning environment and instructional design guidelines. There is therefore, the urgent need to reposition vocational business education for the future.
