About This Special Issue
Origin of multifarious mineral deposits with crustal evolutionary processes in Archean time has led to prolific earth resources in different parts of the globe viz. North America , Africa, Australia, Greenland, South America, China, Russia, India etc. and it is mainly restricted within the span between 4.0 Ga and 2.5 Ga.

The Archean crustal blocks of the aforesaid areas and others including craton, mobile belt, sedimentary basin and various tectonically active and inactive areas contain quite a good number of ore deposits like iron, manganese, chromium, gold, platinum group elements, titanium, vanadium, nickel, copper, uranium, thorium, rare earths etc. Mineralization of these valuable metals in response to crustal evolutionary processes like, magmatism, metasomatism, metamorphism, sedimentary basin development and the sedimentary processes, hydrothermal-pneumatolytic activities and lastly supergene processes is yet to work out in many areas.

This will lead to future exploration of natural resources more scientifically in the Archean terrains with transparent ideas about the nature of mineralization, localization of the deposits and ultimately proper utilization of natural resources for the mankind, society and the country.

Original contributions in the light of ore geology, structure, petrology, geochemistry correlating with Archean crustal evolutionary processes will be encouraged for this Special Issue.

Abstract: Gold mineralisation is reported for the first time in ‘Champion gneiss’ (quartzo-feldspathic schist) a felsic unit,in the eastern sector of the Chigargunta area (Lat: 120 430300N, Long:780 150 000E) of the Kolar schist belt, South India, during 1979-80. Quartzo-feldspathic gneiss and hornblende schist are the predominant rock types of the area. The... Show More

Abstract: East Indian Shield bears the evidences of Archean metallogenic and crustal evolution like the other major shield areas of the world. The primordial continental crust in the form of more silicic bodies were floating like metallurgical slags over the hotter and denser ultramafic-mafic lithosphere (UM-ML) before 3800 Ma. Earliest sediments, now repres... Show More
