About This Special Issue
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the adoption of emerging sensing technologies for instrumentation within a variety of structural systems. Wireless sensors and sensor networks are emerging as sensing paradigms that the structural engineering field has begun to consider as substitutes for traditional tethered monitoring systems. Wireless sensors and wireless sensor networks have come to the forefront of the scientific community recently.Over the past decade, there has been a prolific increase in the research, development and commercialisation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and their associated technologies. WSNs have found application in a vast range of different domains, scenarios and disciplines. This special issue will provide a collection of state-of-the-art research papers discussing current applications and deployment experiences, but also the communication and data processing technologies that are fundamental in further developing solutions to applications.

Abstract: Recently, smart grid networks are researched and developed for the greening of the energy consumption. When introducing these into the university or the community, it is required not only the wide area cooperation and the high-speed monitoring & control, but also the construction of the heterogeneous infrastructure with the security and the flexibi...
