Aesthetics and Perception of Beauty in Architecture

01About This Special Issue

Space perception is a process through which humans and organisms become aware of the relative positions of their bodies and objects around them. Space perception provides cues, such as depth and distance, which are important for movement and orientation to the environment.
Centuries of experimental research led to a more tenable conception in which space was described in terms of dimensions.
Some works of architecture have remarkable aesthetic value. According to certain philosophers, part of this value derives from the appearance of such constructions to fulfill the function for which they were built. Our sense organs translate physical energy from the environment into electrical impulses by their brain.
What is the beauty of architecture? How to perceive beautiful building? What is the philosophy of aesthetics in architecture?
Aims and Scope:
  1. Understanding aesthetics philosophy in architecture
  2. Beauty and proportionality in architecture
  3. Theories of taste and beauty in architecture
  4. The beauty of architectural structure
  5. The case for beauty in architecture
  6. How to define beauty in architecture
